For dinner you have more than 50,000 places to choose from for your hen weekend, stag weekend or other type of short break. A good place for budget restaurants is Khao San Road in Rattanakosin. In the same district, Siam Square has budget-priced food courts in its malls and department stores and many restaurants such as the fusion Greyhound Café and the Japanese grilled meat and fish at King Kong Yakiniku Buffet. More expensive is the district of Sukhumvit, but here too there are budget options such as Soi 38 Night Market. Bars and clubs are there in abundance of course. Favourite bars with a familiar feel for Brits on stag weekends and hen weekends in Bangkok include the Old German Beerhouse, Singha Beer Park and Witch’s Tavern. For clubs, ones to try out include 808, DJ Station, Levels Club and Lava Club.
Bangkok is a city brimming with things to do on a group holiday, from magnificent temples and stunning palaces to beautiful canals and bustling markets. The city is split up into 50 districts so on a short break in Bangkok you will only scratch the surface, but that shouldn’t deter you from a visit. The one district you will certainly want to visit is Rattanakosin (‘the Old City’ or ‘Old Bangkok’) with its many famous attractions such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Thonburi is another district worth visiting, thanks to its lovely location on the Chao Phraya River. Meanwhile, Phahonyothin is the place to go for bargain-hunting – Chatuchak Weekend Market has more than 8,000 stalls! For a change from sightseeing, activities that many group holidays like to do include catching a movie (the cinemas are amazing, and there are sub titles of course) or a bit of bowling (some of the bowling alleys in Ratchadaphisek have nightclub interiors).
