Manchester is one of the UK’s top cities for music, entertainment, shopping and the arts. With an abundance of theatres, clubs, bars and restaurants to choose from, you will never be stuck for ideas in this vibrant city. Here at GroupHolidays.com we can help get your holiday going with a wide choice of small or large group bookings in Manchester.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to nightlife in Manchester. With the heady days of the now closed Hacienda as its heritage, the city keeps on delivering great nights out. Clubs like Mint Lounge, ARK, FAC251 and 42’s are all worth checking out but Manchester has many more clubs to explore. Tariff St alone has six venues, and that’s just the start of nightlife in the Northern Quarter. Just make sure you check with the venue in advance as some require booking to get in.
For live music, see what’s scheduled at Band on the Wall, Dry Bar Live, the Night and Day Pub and the Eagle Inn. Matt & Phreds is the place for quality live jazz. Bigger venues such as Albert Hall, The Ritz, Bridgewater Hall and the O2 Apollo are where you can catch big-name acts. And if comedy is more your thing, check out The Frog and Bucket, the Comedy Store or Chorlton Comedy Club.
Manchester has even more to offer than you might imagine. So much so, in fact, that it is the only city in the UK to feature in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2023 list, brushing shoulders with the likes of Kuala Lumpur, Sydney and Jamaica. It’s steeped in history – especially thanks to its role as the birthplace of the industrial revolution – and is one of the UK’s most important locations for the arts, music and sport.
Manchester Group Activities
If your group is into football, United and City both offer excellent stadium tours and hospitality packages, plus Manchester is home to the National Football Museum. For something more hands-on in Manchester, group activities include a high-tech darts experience at Flight Club, karting at TeamSport Go Karting, cricket nets at Sixes Cricket, a prison-themed speakeasy at Alcotraz and boozy games at Pong & Puck.
Art and Culture
Manchester group activities don’t have to be about sport or drinking! Art lovers have the superb Manchester Art Gallery and the Whitworth Art Gallery. The Science and Industry Museum is also worth a visit, as is the People’s History Museum.
Deansgate
Integral to the City Centre is Deansgate, a mile long road that runs from the Cathedral to Beetham Tower. Deansgate has everything from the upmarket Harvey Nicholls in the Number One Deansgate complex, to numerous bars, eateries, hairdressers and shops, plus a cinema and bowling alley. As you walk its length, be sure to check out the range of architecture from ultra traditional to art deco and modern. It’s worth mentioning that Deansgate is home to several hotels offering party apartments: Manchester group holidays can work really well when choosing such a central location.
Northern Quarter
Despite its name, the Northern Quarter is right in the heart of Manchester. It’s a bustling place packed with independent shops, entertainment venues, clubs, cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as hotels specialising in group accommodation. Manchester’s industrial past is evident here, although it’s now established as a place for fun. You can get a tattoo or piercing, pick up some vintage vinyl and grab something to eat from almost every international cuisine. Afflecks is a ‘must visit’ shopping complex with 70 retailers across four floors. For local craft pieces, visit the wonderful Craft and Design Centre, with more than 30 designers creating everything from ceramics to jewellery.
Chinatown
Think ‘Chinatown’ and London or New York may spring to mind, but Manchester is home to one of the world’s largest Chinatowns (outside of China of course!). A short walk from the City Centre and Northern Quarter, Manchester Chinatown has a neighbourhood feel, mixed of course with superb Chinese shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Three of our favourites are Teppanyaki Chinatown for an immersive experience, Try Thai for value for money, and Pho Cue Vietnamese Kitchen if the queue isn’t too long!
Salford Quays
In recent times, Manchester has seen major investment and regeneration. Nowhere is this more evident than the development around Salford Quays, a 15-minute tram ride from the City Centre. Here you’ll find the Lowry, a cultural and leisure destination with theatres, bars and restaurants. The area is also home to 85 stores at the Quayside MediaCityUK outlet mall, and for TV fans the iconic Coronation Street Tour. It’s also a place where you can base your holiday in Manchester: holiday apartments feature at the Media City Salford Quays, some featuring private balconies with mountain views!
With at least 200 hotels in the Manchester area, we can help you find the perfect Manchester group accommodation for your holiday. For example, at the premium end of the city’s group accommodation, Manchester’s King Street Townhouse is ideal if you fancy a contemporary hotel with a rooftop infinity pool. Dakota Manchester on Ducie Street meanwhile has earned a reputation for elegance and its friendly staff. But whatever your Manchester group accommodation requirements or budget, here at Group Holidays we can match you with accommodation for a great experience.
Party Apartments Manchester
Another option is to book party apartments. Manchester has plenty of this type of accommodation, right up to 4 bedroom apartments Manchester-bound groups might require. Leven Manchester, for example, is a hotel offering everything from single rooms to apartments and is in the heart of the City Centre. Other hotels offering Manchester party apartments include the CitySuites Two Aparthotel and Dreamhouse Apartments. We can also help you find a Manchester party house or Manchester holiday home if you’d prefer.
